WHAT'S THE 411?
Basic Classroom Guidelines and Procedures
Check out a few of the most common questions I have received below. Every question and comment is important to me, no matter how simple or complex, so please feel free to reach out (:
WHAT ARE THE BASIC CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS?
Students are expected to come to class with all of their materials.
In order to be graded, students must hit "Turn In" for all assignments posted via Google Classroom.
Students must be in their seat and ready to begin class by the sound of the bell.
When necessary, students must email their ELA teacher with proper and professional formatting. (;
Students will be held to high behavioral standards in order to maintain the privilege of flexible seating.
Students must always come to class with an OPEN MIND.
HOW WILL MY STUDENT BE GRADED?
As a parent, you have access to all course grades through Aspen. In ELA, your student's grade will be divided into 3 categories: Homework (10%), Classwork + Quizzes (30%) , and Tests + Performance Tasks (60%).
Assignments in the 'Other' category will include Do-Nows and minor homework assignments.
Assignments in the 'Classwork + Quizzes' category will include all assignments where the student is forming their learning in class. This will include, but is not limited too, minor class assignments, worksheets, etc.

All assignments in the 'Tests + Performance Tasks' category will include major test or project grades where your student demonstrates a summary of their learning in the respective unit.
WHAT MATERIALS WILL MY STUDENT NEED FOR YOUR CLASS?
Each day, your student will need:
A charged chromebook
A pen/pencil
Their ELA folder/binder
Their ELA Composition Notebook
Any assigned homework completed
WHAT IS YOUR ABSENT/LATE WORK POLICY?
Students will have the number of days they are absent to submit make-up work.

Missing assignments will be deducted -5 points for each day the assignment is late. After 7 days, the assignment will be entered into the grade book as 0.
